Urban Observatory

The Urban Observatory is a Project from the Division of Urban Development of the Housing and Urban Development Department, which goal is to create and ease access to available information about urban development in Chile.

The Urban Observatory has been developed and updated based on periodically published information by different trustable sources, mainly government institutions.
The web site has five sections:

Urban Index System

It allows access to over 200 available indexes available for the 225 communes, with over 5.000 inhabitants and for the 149 cities in the country.
These indexes are organized in diverse thematic areas:

Infrastructure

Public investment

Urban environment

Ground use

Housing

Territorial Planning Instruments (IPT)
Offers three kinds of information:

Territorial Planning Instruments Program Update

Regulatory Plans on SIG (possibility of visualizing the regional, metropolitan and inter-commune approved IPTs)

DDU Digital Map Store (allows every MINVU available regulatory plan download).


Best Urban Practices

The MINVU carries out nation-wide Best Practices Contests since 2002. The user can find out about the selected projects in each contest, as well as general information about the applying projects.

It contains urban related documents of national interest.
